Job Description
PeopleReady – BI Engineer (M/F)
Location: Remote, Poland
Contract: Fixed-term 6 months
About the job
We are looking for a BI Engineer to join our data and analytics team and work on the reporting layer: keeping our existing Power BI reports accurate and fast, and building the new ones that teams across the business ask for. You will cover the whole path, from SQL and dbt models on Databricks to the report a business user opens each day.
Keeping reports right and building new ones is the largest gap on the team today, so the role is hands-on from the first week. You will work alongside our data engineers on what lands upstream, and with stakeholders across the business to turn their questions into reports they can rely on.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the team's existing Power BI reports and semantic models: fix data issues and performance problems, and work through change requests from the people who use them.
- Build new Power BI reports and dashboards for teams across the business, including Sales, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and HR, from the first conversation to a report people use.
- Turn vague requests into clear scope: what to measure, at what grain, and against which agreed definition.
- Build the SQL and dbt models on Databricks that reports run on: curated, documented dimensional tables with stable grain and keys. Work with the data engineers on what lands upstream.
- Check numbers before they ship: reconcile reports to source data, add data tests where they catch problems, and explain any discrepancy to the people affected.
- Enable self-serve: shared semantic models and documented datasets that business users can build on without asking the team.
- Contribute to the semantic layer and metadata that AI agents and natural-language analytics tools query.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on Power BI: you have built reports and dashboards end to end (data model, measures, layout) and maintained reports that someone else built.
- Strong SQL: complex queries (joins across many tables, window functions, multi-step aggregations) and dimensional modelling, including grain, facts, and dimensions.
- Analytical skills and metric discipline: you turn a business question into the right data cut and a precise metric definition, and you check the numbers before they reach a report.
- Communication with business stakeholders: you turn a vague request into clear scope, and explain a number or a trade-off to a non-technical audience.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Good to have
- dbt experience, or a clear willingness to learn it. We build reporting models in dbt on Databricks, and you will work in it.
- Experience using AI to develop reports, for example Copilot in Power BI, Genie in Databricks, or Claude Code with Agent Skills, and the judgment to check what it produces. This is the direction the team is heading.
- Advanced Power BI modelling: DAX (time intelligence, performance tuning) and shared, governed semantic models reused across many reports.
- Databricks or another lakehouse platform, and light Python for data checks and automation.
Our stack & environment
- Reporting: Power BI on a Databricks lakehouse (Delta Lake).
- Transformation: SQL and dbt on Databricks; Airflow orchestrates the pipelines upstream.
- Cloud: AWS (S3 for raw and processed data).
- Engineering: GitLab for source control and CI/CD; JIRA and Confluence; Microsoft Teams.
What's in it for me?
- Great private medical cover with dental care.
- Life insurance.
- Access to the MyBenefit platform with the option to select a Multisport card.
- Company pension scheme (PPK).
- One extra day annually to use for holiday.
- Fully remote work from home.
- Seasonal benefits, such as pre-paid Christmas cards and others.
- The ability to build a meaningful career in a friendly and inclusive environment.
- A promising career path and individual development plan.
